Compassion That Extends to All Life.
Across faith traditions, compassion is a shared moral foundation that calls believers to live with mercy, justice, and respect for life, including in the choices they make about food.

What We Know
Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Judaism, along with many other faith traditions, share core ethical teachings centered on how we treat others and the world we inhabit.
Key truths:
The shared value of compassion and mercy
To give dignity and respect for life
The call to be morally responsibility
To be stewards of creation
To live by The Golden Rule
These teachings are not abstract ideals. They shape how believers understand justice, care for the vulnerable, and live out their faith in everyday decisions, including the choices they make around food.

Why Food Choices Matter
The impacts of animal agriculture extend far beyond animals alone. This system affects people, communities, and moral formation in ways that are often hidden or overlooked
Impacts of current food choices:
Worker exploitation and trauma, particularly in slaughterhouse and processing jobs
Food insecurityand environmental injustice, disproportionately affecting marginalized communities
Suppression of empathy in children, as violence and suffering are normalized or concealed
Cultural gaslighting of adults, encouraging the normalization of harm as “necessary” or “natural”
When compassion is constrained or compartmentalized, harm spreads outward, touching animals, people, and the moral fabric of society.

What Happens When Someone Goes Plant-Based
Choosing plant-based foods can become a meaningful expression of faith and moral alignment.
Results of choosing plants:
Aligns deeply held beliefs with daily actions
Reduces harm to both animals and people
Supports justice, mercy, and responsible stewardship
Expands compassion beyond boundaries of species, culture, or tradition
For many, this choice represents not a rejection of faith, but a deeper embodiment of it.
